Troy Backhouse is an award winning, multi-discipline designer based in Melbourne. With no signature style, in part due to being exposed to other cultures for a long period of time, living between Australia and Colombia from 2006 to 2021.
” My inspiration is sought from unique and unusual places to enliven perceptions of objects around us.”
New ideas and materials are applied to create objects, from timeless furniture to intuitive products with equal tactile and visual importance to form a human connection.

aspire
The aspiration with each object is to design to inspire, develop objects that endure and to have a story that resonates with you.
uniqueness
Often beauty is realised through the imperfections of hand made pieces.
Troy Backhouse belongs to a new waive of talented furniture designers who also commercialise their own pieces which have recently found their way into a number of international publications…

The Ned Pendant Lamp is a great deal more than a light fixture with an abstract shade. It simultaneously offers illumination, visual intrigue and an unexpected historical reference.
